Prevent low battery alerts on Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite

Introduction

Low‑battery alerts on the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite can be both annoying and disruptive. The earbuds issue a warning tone or voice prompt when the charge drops below a certain threshold, and the companion app may also flash a notification. While these alerts are designed to protect you from sudden power loss, many users prefer a quieter experience, especially during meetings, workouts, or long listening sessions. This guide walks you through practical methods to prevent low‑battery alerts without compromising the safety of your earbuds.

We’ll cover everything from adjusting settings in the Mi AIoT app, using third‑party tools, and adopting smart charging habits. By the end of this tutorial you will know how to mute or disable alerts, extend battery life, and keep your listening experience seamless.

Understanding the Alert System

Before trying to suppress notifications, it helps to know how the earbuds communicate low‑battery status.

  • Hardware threshold – The earbuds contain a battery management circuit that triggers an alert when the internal voltage falls below roughly 3.4 V, which corresponds to about 15 % remaining capacity.
  • Software prompt – The Mi AIoT app reads the battery level via Bluetooth and displays a pop‑up or banner when the threshold is reached.
  • Audible cue – A short beep is played through the earbuds themselves to warn you that they need charging.

These three layers work together to ensure you never lose audio unexpectedly. Disabling any one of them can stop the alert, but to fully prevent interruptions you may need to address all three.

Method 1 – Adjusting Settings in the Mi AIoT App

The official Xiaomi companion app provides the most straightforward way to control notifications. Follow these steps.

Open the App and Locate Your Device

  1. Launch Mi AIoT on your smartphone.
  2. Tap Devices at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Find Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite in the list and select it.

Disable Battery Pop‑Ups

  1. Inside the device page, look for the Settings icon (usually a gear).
  2. Scroll to Notifications.
  3. Toggle off Low battery alert.

This action stops the pop‑up banner that appears on your phone when the earbuds reach the low‑battery threshold.

Mute In‑Ear Alert Tone

Some firmware versions allow you to silence the audible beep directly from the app.

  1. Within the same Settings menu, find Sound or Alert tones.
  2. Locate Low battery tone and set it to Off or Silent.

If you do not see this option, your current firmware may not support it. In that case you can proceed to the next method.

Save Changes and Test

After toggling the options, disconnect and reconnect the earbuds to apply the new configuration. Play music and let the battery drain to around 20 % to confirm that no phone notification or beep is emitted.

Method 2 – Using Third‑Party Bluetooth Management Apps

When the official app lacks the option to mute the audible alert, third‑party utilities can intervene. Applications such as Bluetooth Auto Connect or Tasker on Android allow you to create custom actions based on battery level.

Setting Up Tasker

Tasker is a powerful automation tool that can read Bluetooth device characteristics and trigger actions.

  1. Install Tasker from the Play Store.
  2. Open Tasker and create a new Profile.
  3. Choose Event → Bluetooth → Device Connected and select your earbuds.
  4. Add a State → Battery → Battery Level condition, setting it to Less Than 20.

Create an Action to Silence the Alert

  1. In the same profile, add an Action → Audio → Media Volume and set the volume to 0.
  2. Add a second Action → Plugin → AutoNotification → Cancel to dismiss any pending low‑battery notification from the Mi AIoT app.

When the battery drops below 20 %, Tasker will automatically mute the media volume, preventing the audible beep from being heard. The earbuds will still buzz internally, but you will not be disturbed.

Limitations

  • This method only mutes the sound; it does not stop the beep from being generated by the earbuds’ firmware.
  • The automation runs only while Tasker is active and may affect other audio playback if not configured carefully.

Method 3 – Firmware Tweaks Through Community Tools

Advanced users sometimes turn to community‑maintained firmware patches that expose hidden settings. The Xiaomi Mi Firmware community on XDA Developers has released a small patch that adds a “Silence Low Battery Tone” toggle.

Warning: Installing custom firmware or patches can void your warranty and may brick the device if done incorrectly. Proceed only if you are comfortable with flashing tools and understand the risks.

Prerequisites

  • A computer with ADB (Android Debug Bridge) installed.
  • The Mi Flash Tool or an equivalent flashing utility.
  • An unlocked bootloader (some patches do not require a full unlock, but a bootloader unlock simplifies the process).

Download and Apply the Patch

  1. Visit the XDA thread for Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite and locate the latest patch file (e.g., battery_silence.patch.zip).
  2. Extract the patch to a folder on your computer.
  3. Connect the earbuds to the computer via the charging case’s USB‑C port while holding the pairing button to enter fastboot mode.
  4. Open a command prompt and navigate to the patch folder.
  5. Run adb reboot fastboot to ensure the device is in fastboot mode.
  6. Execute fastboot flash patch battery_silence.patch.bin.

After flashing, the earbuds will restart. Open the Mi AIoT app, go to Settings → Sound, and you should now see a Silence low battery tone option. Turn it on.

Verifying the Change

Play a track while the battery level falls below 15 %. If no beep is heard, the patch is successful.

Method 4 – Smart Charging Practices

Even with alerts disabled, it is wise to adopt habits that keep your earbuds charged enough to avoid sudden power loss. Here are practical tips.

Charge Before Long Sessions

  • Pre‑charge the case to at least 80 % before a marathon listening session.
  • Use the supplied USB‑C charger rather than a low‑power source, as it fills the case faster and reduces heat buildup.

Use Auto‑Sleep Features

The earbuds automatically enter a low‑power sleep mode after 8 minutes of inactivity. This conserves battery and reduces the frequency of low‑battery prompts.

  • Ensure Auto‑Sleep is enabled in the app under Device Settings → Power Management.

Rotate Between Two Cases

If you own a second pair of charging cases, swap them out nightly. This way one case is always fully charged while the other rests.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Battery chemistry degrades in hot or cold environments. Store the earbuds in a room‑temperature area, and do not leave them in a car on a hot day.

Method 5 – Using a Bluetooth Audio Receiver with Built‑In Battery Alerts

If disabling alerts on the earbuds is not feasible, you can shift the responsibility to a secondary device that handles battery monitoring without audible cues.

Setup a Bluetooth Receiver

  1. Purchase a small Bluetooth audio receiver that supports ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) and battery monitoring (e.g., a Bluetooth dongle with LED indicator).
  2. Pair the Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite with the receiver instead of directly with your phone.

Manage Alerts on the Receiver

Many receivers allow you to turn off battery notifications altogether, or they provide visual cues only (flashing LED). This removes the audible beep from your listening path.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: No audible alerts from the earbuds; you retain full control over audio output.
  • Cons: Adds an extra device to your setup; you lose some convenience features like touch controls that depend on direct phone connection.

Method 6 – Leveraging Do Not Disturb Mode

A quick and reversible way to silence low‑battery alerts is to enable Do Not Disturb (DND) on your smartphone during critical moments.

  1. Swipe down from the top of your screen to access quick settings.
  2. Tap the Do Not Disturb icon.
  3. In the DND settings, allow Calls and messages but block App notifications.

When DND is active, the Mi AIoT app’s low‑battery pop‑up will be suppressed. The beep from the earbuds themselves will still occur, but you can combine DND with a low‑volume setting to make it less intrusive.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Even after following the steps above, you might still encounter occasional alerts. Below are solutions for typical problems.

Alert Still Plays After Disabling in the App

  • Check for firmware updates. New firmware may re‑enable the tone. Open the Mi AIoT app, go to Device Settings → About, and tap Check for updates.
  • Restart both devices. Power‑cycle the earbuds (place them back in the case, close the lid, wait 10 seconds, then open) and restart your phone.

Tasker Automation Doesn’t Trigger

  • Verify that Battery Level condition is set to the correct percentage (e.g., 20 %).
  • Ensure Tasker has permission to read battery stats: Settings → Apps → Tasker → Permissions → Battery usage.

Firmware Patch Causes Instability

  • If the earbuds reboot repeatedly or fail to pair, re‑flash the original stock firmware using the Mi Flash Tool.
  • Always keep a backup of the original firmware file before applying any patch.

Summary of Best Practices

Goal Recommended Action
Silence phone pop‑ups Toggle off Low battery alert in Mi AIoT app
Mute audible beep Use app option if available, otherwise apply firmware patch or Tasker volume mute
Prevent accidental power loss Follow smart charging habits, keep case at 80 % for long sessions
Temporary silence Activate Do Not Disturb during meetings or workouts
Advanced control Install custom firmware patch from trusted community source
Extra layer of silence Pair earbuds with a Bluetooth receiver that suppresses alerts

By combining these strategies you can enjoy uninterrupted audio while still protecting your earbuds from unexpected shutdowns.

Final Thoughts

Low‑battery alerts are a built‑in safety feature, but they can become a nuisance when you need a quiet environment. The methods described here give you full control over how and when you receive those warnings. Whether you prefer a simple setting change in the official app, a powerful automation script, or a deeper firmware modification, you now have the tools to tailor your listening experience.

Remember to balance convenience with safety. Even if you mute the alerts, keep an eye on the battery level periodically—most smartphones display the earbuds’ charge in the Bluetooth device list. With proactive charging and the right configuration, your Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Lite will stay powered and silent, letting you focus on what matters most: the music, the podcast, or the call at hand.

That only silences the phone's ring, not the earbuds' internal alert. The earbuds will still play the tone.

If you’re comfortable with ADB, you can push a custom notification setting. Connect your phone, run `adb shell pm disable-user com.xiaomi.xiaomimusic` or use the miui settings database: `adb shell settings put global miui_battery_alert 0`. This will silence the audible alert and the toast notification. Note that you’ll need to have root on the phone or at least enable USB debugging. Also remember to re‑enable after you finish using the earbuds to avoid missing real battery warnings.

I tried the ADB approach but my phone didn’t allow the settings change because of MiUI's locked database. Maybe use 'am broadcast' instead.

So I tried all the app settings, turned off Bluetooth notifications, but still got the voice prompt. The only thing that seemed to stop it was putting the earbuds in the charging case for 5 minutes, then they reset and no more alerts for a while. Might be a workaround but not ideal. Also found that the Xiaomi Mi App sometimes shows a flashing icon in the status bar when low battery, which is a separate issue

Your workaround works but it's not great. I found that opening the Mi Audio app, going to 'More', then 'Battery settings', there is a toggle for 'Low battery reminder'. Turn it off.
